  • According to surveys, 71% of Jewish households are connected to the Internet, 94% with wide band (fast Internet) by means of cable or ADSL (Bezeq). According to the data, 2.7 million Israelis surf the net every day.
  • The general dispersion of the population shows a much higher representation of: male surfers as opposed to female surfers, higher income bracket groups, higher education groups, youngsters and teenagers.
  • In addition, researchers state that over a period of time there is a trend in the gap between the demographic profile of the surfers on the Internet and the demographic profile of the general population to decrease. This gap will close as the number of surfers increase.
  • 95% of Internet users usually surf the web from their homes, while 61% surf the net from other places (work, coffee shops, schools, friends, Internet coffee shops etc).
  • The main purpose of surfing the net is for electronic mail, information search, reading news, downloading programs or files, watching video clips, immediate messaging programs, shopping for services, products and games.
  • Heading the list of sites that are visited by Israeli surfers is Google with 79.1% weekly exposure, and thereafter Walla with67.6% and Y-Net with 56.2%.
  • According to World Matrix it was found that Israel is rated first for surfing the Internet with an average of 57.5 hours a month per surfer, as of March 2006. The world average for surfing stands at 31.3 hours per month, with Finland in second place after Israel with 49.3 hours, and South Korea in third place with 47.2 hours per month.
